EDUCATION:  One teen received 504 accommodations at school after receiving advocacy advice and materials from TAA-AZ.  Two students successfully returned to school in settings that could provide appropriate services and accommodations for conditions associated with TS that had interfered with learning in their regular public schools.

PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION: The chapter brings national speakers to Arizona to teach educators, physicians and other healthcare providers on the effects of TS and how to support the needs of individuals and families impacted by TS.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH:  The support group and chapter  provide outreach services to schools and communities to increase the awarenss of the symptoms of Tourettes Syndrome as a neurological disorder and dispell the myths and stereotypes that have developed over time.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:  Several youth have been sent to Washington, DC to speak to their state's representatives about TS.  They have also received training to become Youth Ambassadors and teach others about TS.   Eight more youth attended workshops on building resiliency and self-esteem, training staff and attendees on the effect TS has on them.  Adults with TS mentor youth at chapter social events and 1:1 meetings.

Your contributions will allow us to expand these efforts throughout Arizona.  So many people have been positively impacted by the work to date.  We hope to continue to grow our programs to ease the challenges faced by those touched by TS.
