Youth and Family Link

Link's mission is to promote positive change in a child and family's life by engaging and linking them to resources that will result in success in school, having positive friends, a healthy home life, and being involved in positive activities. We achieve our mission through various programs, including Outreach and Engagement, Afterschool Programs, Mentoring, Beyond the Alphabet, Community Gymnasium, and Community Events. Each of these programs helps us meet the goals of our mission. Reducing stress, trauma, and isolation takes a multifaceted approach, which is precisely what our diverse programs provide.

We help families reduce stress by providing social support, creative outlets, healthy lifestyles, time management, and physical exercise within our programs. We provide trauma support by creating safe environments for children and parents, Implementing trauma-informed practices, and training our staff on how to respond to trauma in a sensitive manner. We connected families to therapeutic interventions and psychoeducation when needed.

Youth and Family Link continues to focus on ensuring families in our community have access to the resources they need to succeed and support them in overcoming barriers to accessing those resources. Our staff and Board of Directors are made up of members of the local community who share this commitment. We have focused Board recruitment on ensuring that Board members not only represent skillsets and professions that can be of support to Youth and Family Link but also that the Board reflects the diversity of the clients we serve. Specifically, we have seen a large increase in the number of clients who identify as Latinx or Hispanic and Black or African-American.
