Tracyton Community Library

A nonprofit organization

Tracyton Community Library is the little library that could, serving the community for nearly 100 years and since 1985 without a single tax dollar

1934: a lady with an extensive private library visited Tracyton residents with a basket full of books that she would lend to them.

1935: a branch of the Kitsap County Public Library was established in Tracyton.

1949: the Tracyton Library started a summer reading program that goes on to this day and may be expanded to an all-year activity if properly funded.

1985: Kitsap Regional Library decided to close the Tracyton library branch.

Dedicated volunteers have kept the library running ever since, supported only by book sales and fundraising events. We have Kids Day on the first Thursday of each month that provides crafts for children and a break for busy parents.  This year, the library will partner with the Kitsap Humane Society for an event at the library, and host other community events, including the Tracyton Tree Lighting Celebration. We partner with West Sound Wildlife Shelter to host an education ambassador visit for our patrons. We collaborate with Peace Lutheran School, Montessori school and Macaroni Kids.

Most of the library volunteers are members of RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program).
