Now in its 18th year of celebration, the Trailing of the Sheep Festival is Idaho's premier cultural event honoring the arts, history and culture of sheepherding and sheep ranching in the west.

The Festival preserves the stories and colorful history of sheep ranchers and herders, celebrates the rich cultures of the past and present and entertains and educates children, adults and families about the production of local food and fiber that sustains local economices and generations of hard-working families.

It will cost over $160,000 to organize and implement the annual Festival this year.  Since most of the events are free or offered at a vey low cost, fundraising is a cital part of our annual work. 100% of our expenses are directly related to making this acclaimed Festival happen.

Some of the expenses  include:

  • Performers, musicians, dancers and speakers
  • Storytellers; recording and archiving stories
  • Sheep camps, sheep shearing
  • Sheepdog Trials
  • Exhibits and demonstrations
  • Culinary events, lamb, signs, chefs, restaurants
  • Advertising, marketing, website
  • Permits, insurance, licenses
  • Signs, banners, equipiment, sound, announcers
  • Set up, clean up, waste, recycliing
  • Staff, bookkeeping
  • Venues, lodging

We must raise every dollar in order to present this cherished celebration each year.  Please give generously to this remarkable Festival to keep our rich history alive forever.
