TRANS(FORMING)

WHAT IS OUR MISSION?

                  Trans(forming) is an inter-generational, metro Atlanta membership-based organization led by and for Trans, Intersex, Gender non-conforming and Non-Binary persons, whom were wrongfully assigned female at birth. Through advocacy, education, leadership development, coalition-building, peer support, and direct service, we work to ensure our communities live with dignity, wellness, and connection for liberation. We address basic needs and build a sense of community among our members, while also mobilizing to transform institutions and systems that oppress us.   

Our Work

Trans(forming) has a prison project for the past 5 years. As many of us know trans men, intersex, gender non-conforming people of color, assigned female at birth (including those who ID as male/ man) and those who are questioning are often targeted by law enforcement. Many are misgendered, mistreated and have little access to transitional needs while incarcerated. We have made contact with our local prisons and are connecting with as many trans men, intersex, gender non-conforming , assigned female at birth (including those who ID as male/ man) and those who are questioning but we need the communities help. Many of those are being released with housing insecurity.

To provide emergency and short-term housing for members and partners of Trans(forming) who are faced with eviction, housing instability, and a range of barriers to accessing safe and permanent housing. The purpose of residing at Trans(forming) House is not only to provide members with safe and affirming housing, but to help with setting a goal and meet it, help create and maintain a budget, and help save. These are required, essential life skills that will help you long after you leave Trans(forming) House.

We Need You!

We need housing now more than ever! Our community has been hit hard by the ongoing pandemic and are in need of one of life's basic necessities housing. As our current condo doesn't have the space to house them even temporarily. We are launching a new capital campaign for a new Trans(forming) house to house those in need.
