Transcendence Cincinnati

We are Transcendence Cincinnati!  We started 5 years ago as a local to Cincinnati, Ohio transgender and nonbinary support and social group that has grown to have an online presence that includes transgender and nonbinary community members around the country. We welcome all transgender and nonbinary individuals, but we have a focus on mental health and disabilities. We have expanded our mission to include helping our members and those in the larger trans community with their gender transitions and financial survival.  Our current programs include chest binder, gaff, and other transition aide sponsorships, help with community members prescription costs and co-pays, and participation costs for our social events; we feel that money should never be a determining factor in whether someone finds community.   

Our longer-term goals include housing projects to be completed in stages.  Our first goal is to have a rental property with several bedrooms for emergency transitional housing for the local Cincinnati, Ohio transgender/nonbinary community whereby Transcendence will cover housing and utility costs for 6-12 months until participants can find more stable housing and employment, if applicable.

Our 10-year goal is a large, purpose-built, transgender and nonbinary exclusive transitional (up to 2 years) apartment community with 30-50 units of individual one to two bedroom apartments that are income-based (30% gross income with utilities included), and grant-sponsored for those who do not currently have an income.  This facility will have on-site mental health services, employment placement services, and community gathering spaces for substance recovery meetings, other support meetings, and social events.  We are looking to partner with local housing authorities and the city of Cincinnati for this project.
