At Travis Hill NOLA we equip system-involved young people with the academic, workforce readiness, and social and emotional skills they need to be free, successful, contributing members of the New Orleans community.
At the Travis Hill Schools, located inside of the City's juvenile detention center and adult jail, we provide teens and young adults with a top-notch education that is relevant, meaningful and designed to help students re-engage with school, both while detained and upon release.
Upon release, we embrace Travis Hill students through our transition support and community engagement initiative. We surround students with a team of caring adults, help them develop and pursue a passion, and offer unrelenting support and care for up to five years.
At Travis Hill NOLA, we see our students as fully worthy of our collective embrace; young people who, with love and support, will make the great city of New Orleans even better, now and in the future.
Over 90% of our parents rated their children's experience at Travis Hill as Excellent or Good
Parent Testimonials
"Y’all have been there every step of the way from my son Julian. It's really a pleasure. We got through it and he's on to a new journey and I'm so very proud of him.
I'm grateful he's made it to the next step in life. I was worried, but the great staff members y’all helped him get to the end so with all the support I believe that's what got him to the end. The staff has been able to keep him calm. Julian gets very distracted so they kept him in tune and kept him together when I couldn't be there for him.
I wanna thank y'all from the bottom of my heart. Thank y'all for getting my son to where he needs to be and we will not forget about y'all in the next steps of the journey." Angela Overton
"Thank y'all. I appreciate y'all helping working with him. I know it was hard. I know he probably was not the ideal student, but I appreciate your help for getting him through this cause this is something big for me. It's even bigger for him, this gonna get him through more than he knows." Kent Sr.
"I'm so grateful and so thankful for my son for taking a step forward and realizing who he is, besides where they have him at because he could have been worse off than what he is. So I'm glad that he was able to get his high school diploma, graduate, succeed in life, and make sure that he goes forward from here on forward.
Everything was beautiful. I'm grateful that they were in Larry's life, stayed with him. I was happy that he had found somebody that was gonna help him get his high school diploma because he was focused on getting that when he came home. So I was grateful for the team that was there." Tamika Lewis
"It's a blessing. It's amazing. I never thought I'd have this opportunity. I'm just glad to be here to experience this. It's just a great day in my life. It's been hell not having him at home and being here today was an honor. Oh my God, it just felt like it took all the sadness away. I came here to see him do this, which some kids don't do, and to have his grandmother's by my side and myself it's an honor because I didn't ever finish. So it's a blessing that he finished. It feels great. It feels great. And it's just a lesson learned to teach me to go home to school with other kids and let them know, finish, don't give up. You have a whole life ahead of you. Y'all doing an amazing job. He loves school. " Alexandria Seals
"I'm excited. I am overly excited because I've been waiting for this day to come. It's like a little dream come true because as babies, you always look for them to grow up and get their diploma, go to college and everything. So this is truly a good milestone. The staff feel genuine. You could go places and it looks like people putting it on, like fake smiles or everything, but it looks like everybody is like family and they're trying to treat him as such. It doesn't give you that emptiness in your heart, that hole in your heart type feeling. It just feels like I'm so happy. Hopefully he'll take this and get a PhD or something because the sky is the limit." Tamiko Perry
"You guys are doing a great job. Keep up the good work." Travis Hill School Parent
Student Testimonials
"Once I got locked up, I never thought I would be graduating from high school... But life is like a marathon. It doesn't matter how you start or how you finish. It's about every foot, block and mile in between that gets you to the finish line. Some may trip, some may fall down. Some may get distracted and wander onto another path. Run towards success. Run towards a future. Run towards our dreams. As long as we continue moving forward, we'll never lose." December 2018 Travis Hill School Graduate
