Tri County Childrens Advocacy Center

It shouldn’t hurt to be a child, yet one in four girls are sexually abused before their 18th birthday. One in 8 boys are also abused sexually and one in four children of either gender are physically abused during childhood.

The Tri-County Children’s Advocacy Center is a place of for healing. Working with a multi-disciplinary team including law enforcement, child protective services (DHR), prosecutors, mental health, medical, and victim services professionals, the Center is a child-friendly place where the needs of a child who has been abused are offered and healing can begin.

Serving Chambers, Randolph, and Tallapoosa counties in east-central Alabama, the Tri-County Children’s Advocacy Center has offices in LaFayette, Dadeville, and Wedowee, Alabama. Our small staff travels to each of these counties to provide services to child victims so they can receive services in their own home county and not have to travel far away to get help.

We provide forensic interviews to help determine what happened to a child, child-abuse trauma specific therapy to help child victims heal from abuse, court preparation and accompaniment for child victims who have to testify in court, multidisciplinary team case reviews to insure that children’s needs are being met, referrals to medical exams, case tracking, victims services, and prevention programs.
