The people of southeast Arizona are connected to their natural world through birds, and we all protect and use our natural resources in a responsible and sustainable manner. Will you support this vision?

As the leading advocate for birds and their habitats in southern Arizona, we achieve our mission through activities and collaborations with individuals, governments, businesses and educational institutions that:

  • provide quality programs to encourage people to protect and conserve natural areas
  • educate people about natural processes, taking them outdoors to experience nature
  • communicate the ecological, social, and economic  benefits of birds and their habitats
  • provide information for conservation planning for our most important wildlife habitats

Doesn’t encouraging the protection and responsible use of thriving natural habitats for both people and wildlife make a lot of sense to you? We are active on local, state, and Federal legislative issues related to air, water, and land use. While most of our projects are in the Tucson area, our influence spans the state of Arizona.

As we enter our 66th year, we are proud to be your partner in keeping our special places special for birds and for people. Since it was founded by volunteers in 1949, Tucson Audubon has engaged thousands of members and volunteers of all ages and backgrounds in learning about the birds and natural history of our region.  We restore important riparian habitat with the help of a dedicated volunteer team, and create new urban habitats in Tucson neighborhoods. In the last year, we've transplanted 1,000 native trees and shrubs, like palo verde, wolfberry, greythorn, Mexican elder, netleaf hackberry, and creosote. TAS has formally identified 3.38 million acres of Important Bird Areas as part of the global IBA network, which has in the last year identified six new global IBAs in Arizona, bringing the total to 14.  Our education programs, field trips and shop have provided a wide range of programs, books, optics, outdoor gear and bird watching opportunities for youth, adults, residents, visitors and novice to expert birders.  Through our work, TAS has become a leading and respected voice in our community, influencing public policy on sustainable development and protecting important wildlife habitat.

This is all made possible through YOU, through the generosity of our volunteers, members, donors, sponsors, and other partners and supporters!
