Turningpoint for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence

Turningpoint for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence ("Turningpoint") provides support and resources to achieve freedom from domestic and sexual violence.  We serve individuals and families from Pierce and St. Croix Counties of Wisconsin and the surrounding area.

Turningpoint was established more than 40 years ago when a group of concerned River Falls citizens sought to provide safety to victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault.  Trained volunteers took victims into their own homes and provided them with a nurturing environment in which they could begin to heal from the impact of the violence.  

Turningpoint evolved into a tax-exempt nonprofit organization with paid employees who provide comprehensive services throughout our service area of Pierce and St. Croix Counties of Wisconsin.  The agency offers emergency housing (with a 21-bed capacity); 24-hour phone and text crisis hotlines; intensive advocacy and support services.; legal services support; support groups; and emergency food, clothing, and hygiene products.  Turningpoint is also the state coalition-designated sexual assault services provider for Pierce and St. Croix Counties.

The agency operates from the core belief that victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault need to be empowered.  Our employees and highly-trained volunteer advocates work with victims/survivors to help them regain a sense of strength and self-confidence.  We work with victims/survivors to establish goals, access resources and support services, and to support client success. All Turningpoint services are confidential and free of charge regardless of gender identity, race, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, or citizenship status. 

In addition to direct services, Turningpoint focuses on community outreach and violence prevention education.  We educate community members on the impact of domestic violence and sexual assault, while providing education about the services offered by our agency. Turningpoint’s vision is to eliminate domestic abuse and sexual assault within our service area of Pierce and St. Croix Counties.
