Trauma affects us all. 

Trauma comes in many forms, and no one is immune to its impact. In some situations- the loss of a loved one, a survivor of abuse, or a catastrophic situation- the trauma is expected; but in others, the trauma is subtle– a divorce, or the loss of a job, or a small car accident can create a trauma response in an individual. No matter the reason, the entire person is impacted, and all facets of a life can be adversely affected. Grief, depression, anxiety, fear, self-harm and self-sabotage are all the result of emotional wounds (often from childhood) that have not been able to heal properly. 

Every crisis is an opportunity for growth when an individual has the help and support they need to process through trauma and move forward. Unfortunately, traditional therapy doesn't always provide that support, but with the right horses and the professional guidance we offer, our program has been effective in supporting the emotional healing process where traditional therapies may have failed.  

The work done with horses and children requires them to think and learn in new ways, to apply new coping skills, solve problems, and respond to various types of stressors in a healthy way.  The human-equine bond is unlike any other in the animal kingdom. Horses are experts at helping us overcome many of our greatest obstacles and they do it honestly, nonjudgmentally, and with no hidden agenda. Their keen awareness and ability to interpret the body language and emotions of those around them enables them to be steadfast interpreters of our underlying, true feelings. Interaction with horses can help us develop strong, effective relationship skills.  For instance, trust and respect are vital elements of the human-horse bond.  This allows young people to learn clear and effective ways of building trust and gaining respect.

We have expanded our program to help men, women, and children from all walks of life: veterans struggling with CPTSD, families in crisis, people facing serious illness, as well as those who’ve been physically, emotionally, or sexually abused. We have seen lives changed, hearts and minds healed, and passion for life restored. 

When everyone gives sacrificially, lives are changed.  Our goal of $22,000 is two-fold:  

1. TO HELP PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS IN NEED OF POST-TRAUMATIC GROWTH AND, 
2. TO HELP PROVIDE HAY TO FEED THE HORSES.
