The Youth Banner (TYB) is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2010.
Through the Support of a dedicated staff and a strong board of professionals, TYB’s goal is to develop and economically empower the youth through a tried and tested entrepreneurship and leadership program – Banner Economic Empowerment Program, designed to help battle Kenya’s high unemployment rate.
Our Vision
Develop & Economically Empower The Youth
Our Mission
To create an enabling environment for 1,000,000 youth to earn sustainable incomes by 2020
Our Campaign
‘Leave No Youth Behind’
In partnership with rural and marginalized communities we recently began a robust campaign to take ICT training to the ‘mashinani’ (rural & marginalized areas)
The youth in these communities have rarely seen a computer let alone known how to use one. This has however not stopped them from trying to better their lives especially by way of small business enterprises.
This made us think how much more would be possible if the youth and women in these communities had access to more information and ideas, the kind that you and we enjoy (access to the internet & a proper understanding of how a computer works & what it can be used for). And with that, the idea for what we now call ICOOP was born.
ICOOP
Icoop is an idea standing for Youth Information Communication Technology (ICT) Cooperative
I-COOP hubs are ICT driven business centers open to the local communities for the purposes of easing access to information, ICT and entrepreneurship training and thus invoking growth of the community.
Through I-COOP, we see ICT playing a leading role in empowering many more youth to start up business and access employment, than we are presently able to reach. They will also support dissemination of public information, boost communities’ social enterprises and interlink community members to an array of services that have been made accessible online.
Your contribution goes a long way towards shaping the lives and destinies of some pretty awesome people. Anything at all you can contribute will have a profound effect not just on the campaign but on the quality of training and infrastructure that we make available in the centers.
If you are reading this from Kenya, you can also make your contribution on Mpesa via our paybill number: 95760 and Acc No: Train ICT.
Every little bit counts greatly.
