UC Berkeley Chicano Latino Alumni Association

A nonprofit organization

$15,445 raised by 50 donors

The UC Berkeley Chicano Latino Alumni Association (CLAA), known as the Chicano Latino Alumni Club back then, started in the early 80's with the effort to provide financial support to our Chicano and Latino students on campus and to provide a mechanism for our alumni to network with one another.

Since then, we have registered as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with 10 chapters throughout California, Mexico and Washington, D.C.  CLAA has also incorporated a membership component to help sustain our organization.

With the increase in the number of first-generation students, including underrepresented and underserved students, mostly coming from Latinx communities, it is important to continue to continue to find ways to make sure that are students thrive at Cal.

In doing so, we are continuing to create resources through scholarships and career development such as our Cal Latinx Conexiones, our mentoring platform connecting students to Latinx alumni.

We must continue to build programs and create resources for our students to help them succeed at Cal and beyond.  Our focus is to raise funds for scholarships, student internship positions, and for a Latinx Career & Development Center.  It is not just a focus, but a NEED.  We are hopeful that with our community's help, we can make it happen.
