Since its earliest days in 1942, UMass Hillel has stood at the center of Jewish student life at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Our pluralistic approach to Jewish life offers multiple points of access and ensures a rich range of opportunities for ALL students to create and engage meaningfully in Jewish life and community.  

In this warm and vibrant environment Jewish students of all backgrounds – religious and secular – feel at home and included. Hillel has it all including fun events throughout the year, many leadership and mentorship opportunities, a vibrant social justice program, the OU-JLIC learning initiative, weekly kosher Shabbat dinners, and over a dozen student groups! There is something for everyone.

Recognized internationally as a leader in creative campus programming, UMass Hillel is the only campus Hillel to win the William Haber Award for outstanding programming six times!

UMass Hillel serves roughly 2,500 students on the flagship Amherst campus and is a private, not for profit 501(c)3.  84% of the budget comes directly from private philanthropic donations made by alumni, parents and community members alike.
