United for Life Foundation

Since its founding in 2005, the United for Life Foundation (Foundation) has partnered with hundreds of service providers and churches across the State of Alabama, and has developed a database of resources that aims to provide educational information to help families and individuals struggling in our State. Its mission is to direct those in crisis situations to local resources through media (TV, radio, internet, print) and community events. The Foundation began developing an online database of local resources in 2008 which became the framework of the Alabama On-Line Community Resource and Education Network (AOLCREN). The ALOCREN is a database of local resources that includes information about pregnancy assistance, parenting, nutrition, medical information, counseling, shelters, and other critical information for vulnerable populations in crisis situations. Each resource (local/State agencies & faith based ministries) will have a profile page within the AOLCREN containing the agencies’ location, contact information, services, video/audio files, and other information. The interface is designed to educate the user before directing them to local resources. The ALOCREN may be accessed through public libraries, State agencies, churches, and non-profit organizations once it becomes public. Funds raised will help us complete an implement the ALOCREN project. Our goal is to raise the remaining $45,000.
