A Pleasant Grove family’s home was left unlivable after the April 27th tornadoes. The firefighter and his wife and 3 children were forced to move into a local motel for shelter.  Their  insurance company didn’t pay a settlement  claim that would  cover all the necessary repairs.  It put them behind in their mortgage payments. He took a  second job to help pay bills but it wasn’t enough.  “We’re trying to do everything right, we just need help with getting caught up on our mortgage,” said the firefighter.  This is a typical unmet need faced by many tornado survivors. United Way, through the Central Alabama Long-Term Recovery Committee, had resources to help with the mortgage payments and save their home. The resources were there because of this community’s generosity.
