United Way of Greater Laporte County Inc

Our goal is to create long-lasting change by addressing priority needs. Our focus is on education, income, health and basic needs because these are the building blocks of a quality life. Through donations received during annual workplace campaigns and from individuals, foundations and community organizations, United Way provides funding to 22 partner agencies that are addressing significant human services issues affecting people throughout LaPorte County.

In addition to agency funding, we more than doubled our outreach from 2011 to 2013 through special programs. The number of preschool kids participating in Kindergarten Countdown camps increased from 30 to 120. Claims filled through the FamilyWize free prescription discount cards doubled, from 6,000 to 12,000. This saved local residents more than $195,000 in 2013. And a total of 380 low-income residents took advantage of VITA , a free tax preparation and e-filing service offered for the first time in 2013.
