United Way aspires to generate and apply the necessary resources to meet the needs of the Auburn and Opelika communities, recognizing that meeting basic human needs should be the overriding consideration in all decisions.  Lee County is focused on the building blocks for a good life-a quality education that leads to a stable job, health, and strong families.  We are committed to creating lasting change-from ending illiteracy to giving every child a healthy chance.

Our main focuses are education, health, strengthening families and critical needs.

Education is a cradle to career issue.  Our agencies span from creating loving, positive childcare programs that implement the basic educational fundamentals  to giving a 40 year-old man a second chance in advancing his education by providing tutoring.

Health is strongly linked to education and income. Good health allows children to learn better and adults to increase their income from productive work. United Way also is committed to increasing access to healthcare and providing services to our Senior Citizens and those with disabilities.

Our goal for strong families is that they would have the necessary skills and support systems to obtain financial stability, independence, to care for their families and to be contributing members of the community.

Critical needs range from lacking sufficient funds for medical needs to sexual assault to a tornado hitting ones home. No one knows when disaster will strike. United Way is there to provide services that tend to the needs of life's basic necessities.
