We win by LIVING UNITED.  By forging unlikely partnerships; by finding new solutions to old problems; by mobilizing the best resources; and, most of all, by inspiring individuals to join the fight against our community's most daunting social crises.

We support students, their families, and our local Alexandria community with the following programs:

We address health and education at Francis C. Hammond Middle School through a weekend food backpack program.  Every Friday, six meals and snacks are discretely added to the backpacks of 50 students for them to carry home for the weekend.  During the 2015-2016 school year, over 11,000 meals were distributed to the students and their families who need them most.

We build capacity in Alexandria by awarding $105,000 in grants to partner nonprofits through our Alexandria Community Impact Fund (ACIF). Those funds are used to support local initiatives that include housing location assistance, basic needs, mentoring, employment services and senior services, to name a few.

We expand access to critical financial resources at our second and newest Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) on the Route 1 corridor in Alexandria at the South County Government Center.  FEC's are one-stop-shops where clients access personalized coaching, year-round tax preparation, and other services to get their finances back on track.  In 2016, volunteers processed 1,083 tax returns resulting in over $1,000,000 in refunds - putting much needs resources back into the hands of hard-working families.
