Unity Gardens connects our community to healthy food, nature, and one another. We improve wellness holistically:

Physically - through unencumbered access to fresh produce

Socially - through welcoming third spaces where people can gather and meet  

Mentally - through immersion in nature, mitigating anxiety and depression

Environmentally - through sustainable growing, utilizing orchards, native plants and renewable energy

Unity Garden's hub is a seven-acre urban ecosystem with free-pick gardens, orchards, native plantings, chickens, goats, rabbits, and beehives. Here, we staff garden guides who are available for harvesting help, tasting tours, and provide a listening ear. This model differs from other food security organizations as we encourage everyone to partake, regardless of need, destigmatizing the garden experience and offering dignity. We support 40 to 60 volunteer-run satellite Unity Gardens, providing fresh food and greenspace throughout northern Indiana.
