Support Kaua‘i’s Future: Invest in the Ho‘olei Scholarship

Attending college can be a significant financial challenge for first-year students at Kaua‘i Community College. The costs for students residing in Halele‘a and Ko‘olau are even higher when considering transportation!

Here’s a glimpse into the costs they face:

  • $3,144 for tuition
  • $1,360 for books and supplies
  • $3,000 for learning materials (tools, uniforms, safety equipment)

On average, students spend $10,151 annually just to attend college. This does not include additional expenses such as childcare, housing, or food.

Data highlights the critical need for support:

  • 87.3% of first-time, first-year undergraduate students receive financial aid.
  • 54% of U.S. undergraduate students are first-generation college students, whose parents do not have a bachelor’s degree.

Despite the importance of financial aid, it often falls short of covering the full cost of education. The Ho‘olei Scholarship is designed to bridge this gap by addressing unmet needs for first-year students. By covering essential costs and providing support for additional expenses, the scholarship allows students to focus on their studies without the overwhelming burden of excessive loans or multiple jobs. Comprehensive marketing and outreach of this scholarship is planned for new students in Halele‘a and Ko‘olau prior to the Fall 2025 school year.

Investing in the Ho‘olei Scholarship means investing in Kaua‘i’s future. Your support will help unlock opportunities for better jobs, higher earning potential, and a brighter future for our entire community.

Thank you for making a difference!
