Unstoppable Youth Sports

Mission: Unstoppable Youth Sports provides opportunities for children with special needs to participate in sports with their typical peers. The league makes each sport accessible to the child’s individual ability to facilitate inclusion, acceptance and barrier free participation with their typical peers.

About: Unstoppable Youth Sports was created in 2018 by two mom’s who envisioned a life of inclusion for their two young sons with special needs. This non-profit organization provides free opportunities for children with special needs, ages 4 - 21 yrs old, to participate in sports with their typical peers. The program started by the mom’s recruiting their son's classmates and creating a baseball team of 12 children with special needs, in hopes of fostering inclusion, diversity and simply playing a game of baseball with their typical peers. Unstoppable Youth Sports has grown beyond that original classroom of children, and now offers soccer, basketball, and baseball to over 130 youth in central Ohio.

Inclusion: For the individuals with special needs this is an opportunity to belong: to a team, create friendship and fully participate without criticism or exclusion. Those who participate as typical athletes and families, they are learning leadership, empathy, courage, and what a diverse community means and looks like through actions and not just theory/ shifting from competitiveness to true play. This impactful shift takes place for all typical and atypical youth participants and their families. It has residual impacts for our community that despite not seen combats fear of difference and opens our community to be a kinder one, by intent. The Unstoppables Youth Sports Organization closes these physical and emotional gaps in our community for all children while playing with one another.

Support: There is currently only one barrier that is keeping the Unstoppables from being fully included and that is the physical facility: an accessible sports facility with accessible restrooms and parking would eliminate all barriers of play. The Unstoppables was recently donated 74 acres of land in Bellville, Ohio. Architectural and civil engineering drawings will need to be completed and finalized before fundraising can occur costing the organization $50,000. 

The Unstoppables operates solely by donations and sponsors. All equipment is provided  by the league and all children play for free removing any barriers that might discourage play. Please consider supporting us and help us become UNSTOPPABLE!
