Our programs focus on cultivating a more connected relationship between northern Nevadans and the food they eat through school and farm-based learning opportunities for teachers, students, and families. Support us so we can continue to grow!

Here’s what Urban Roots provides for our Community:

  • Garden-themed lessons and hands-on activities both in the classroom and at our teaching farm through our Garden Classrooms program;
  • Hands-on education for home school families through our Farm School program;
  • Academic enrichment during Washoe County School District breaks, Farm Camp; (Spring Farm Camp, Summer Farm Camp, Harvest Camp, and Winter Farm Camp)
  • Teacher support with standards based curriculum that utilizes the garden to inspire students to learn science, math, language arts. Teacher Workshops;
  • Service Learning for university students to have a meaningful impact on our community;
  • Indoor meeting space in our FarmHouse;
  • Collaborative efforts for the Nevada Farm to School and national Farm to School networks;
  • Scholarships to attend our programs with support from our community through the Community Supported Education scholarship program; and,
  • Opportunities to collaborate for healthy futures!

Why our work is important:

Urban Roots has a unique capacity to serve northern Nevada with long lasting impacts in the areas of education, health, environment, and community. In this way, we are entirely reliant on our community's support.
