Urology Health Foundation

 

The Urology Health Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2003 by the Birmingham urologist Dr. Thomas E. Moody.

A large part of the Foundation's work has been devoted to promoting public awareness about prostate cancer and to providing free prostate cancer screenings across the State of Alabama, especially in underserved areas that are at highest risk.

Our work could not be more urgent. Alabama has the third highest death rate from prostate cancer in the nation, and for African-Americans in this State, the death rate due to prostate cancer is second only to that of Washington, D.C.

Since 2007, we have held free prostate cancer screenings in the following 16 Alabama counties:

• Barbour County (Eufaula, Alabama)
• Bullock County (Union Springs, Alabama)
• Butler County (Greenville, Alabama)
• Choctaw County (Butler, Alabama)
• Conecuh County (Evergreen, Alabama)
• Greene County (Eutaw, Alabama)
• Hale County (Greensboro, Alabama)
• Lowndes County (Hayneville, Alabama)
• Madison County (Huntsville, Alabama)
• Marengo County (Linden, Alabama)
• Monroe County (Monroeville, Alabama)
• Montgomery County (Montgomery, Alabama)
• Perry County (Marion, Alabama)
• Pike County (Troy, Alabama)
• Sumter County (Livingston, Alabama)
• Wilcox County (Camden, Alabama)

 

In the course of these screenings, we have screened over 3,000 men free for prostate cancer and have found numerous cancers.

Prostate cancer screenings only take 10 minutes, and it is 10 minutes that could save a man's life.

Donations made to the Urology Health Foundation will go to support its prostate cancer screening work in Alabama.
