Last year Uspiritus served over 1400 of our most broken children and at-risk families in 97 counties in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
"I lived in turmoil for three years, not sure where I could get help. I was being abused by my stepdad. I'm now in foster care at Uspiritus, where my case manager and foster parents have taught me that there are people in the world who will care for you. I haven't always known this. I don't know where I would be without these lessons. My life has completely turned around. Because the Uspiritus staff have had such an impact on my life, I've decided to become a social worker. I hope that I can touch at least one child's life, like they have touched mine. "

"When I was only 6 years old, I was taken away from my mom due to neglect. I bounced between many different foster homes, group homes and hospitals. I was a complete mess and wanted to end it. I came to Uspiritus two years ago. I have learned to get what I want by going about it the right way. I graduated high school and how I am in the Independent Living program and going to college.
Without the people that I've encountered here, I don't know where I'd be right now. I'd probably be dead or in jail. What does Uspiritus mean to me? Uspiritus is home. This is where my heart is. They probably saved my life." John, age 19
Uspiritus, the 2012 merger of Brooklawn Child and Family Services and Bellewood Home for Children, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing hope and healing services to at risk youth.
It is through the generosity of the community that we are able to deliver the care to these kids who have suffered abuse, neglect and abandonment.
In addition to restoring hope, instilling confidence, encouraging spirituality and faith, Uspiritus' mission is to further education. We are preparing them emotionally and academically for college, work and life!
Amazing things happen every day at Uspiritus. The "kids first" philosophy that is embraced by every member of the Uspiritus family drives impressive results, generates inspiring stories and most importantly, saves lives.
