The Utah Afterschool Network’s Role

For more than two decades, the Utah Afterschool Network has served as the backbone organization supporting afterschool and summer programs across the state. As Utah’s statewide intermediary for out-of-school time, UAN works to ensure programs are not only available but high-quality, sustainable, and equitable.

We support programs by:

• Providing individualized technical assistance and coaching

• Delivering statewide professional learning and training opportunities

• Leading quality improvement initiatives and best practice development

• Building and strengthening regional networks

• Connecting programs to partners, resources, and statewide systems

We also serve as a leading voice for afterschool in Utah, working alongside state agencies, legislators, and national partners to protect and expand funding and policy support for youth programs.

Impact This Year

With the support of partners and donors, UAN has:

• Provided technical assistance and quality support to more than 300 afterschool and out-of-school time programs statewide

• Continued serving as the state’s lead provider of support for 21st Century Community Learning Centers programs

• Expanded regional network development to strengthen collaboration across communities

• Convened statewide partners to advance STEM and other enrichment opportunities in afterschool settings

• Delivered professional development to hundreds of afterschool professionals

• Worked directly with state leaders to sustain and strengthen funding for Utah’s afterschool system

Every training delivered, every program coached, and every policy advanced ultimately supports one goal: ensuring Utah’s youth have access to safe, enriching environments where they can learn, grow, and thrive.
