Utah Center for Legal Inclusion

Although 2020 has been unpredictable and challenging, UCLI has moved ahead in its efforts to bring about a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive future for Utah's legal profession and institutions. To advance this mission, UCLI launched two key programs this year, and the UCLI team is excited to grow these programs as we look forward to the new year. First, UCLI launched its Certification Program, which assists legal employers and lawyers in creating more inclusive workplaces for legal professionals throughout the state. This year, UCLI also created a new program titled Promoting Legal Education to Diverse Groups Everywhere (PLEDGE). PLEDGE focuses on the importance of education, specifically legal education, as a critical mechanism of empowering oneself and strengthening one’s family and community. PLEDGE endeavors to make legal education viable, attractive, and accessible to all populations throughout the state, doing so through the following three avenues:
