About the Utah Cultural Celebration Center Foundation
For 13 years the cultural center has taken pride in offering accessible multi-disciplinary public arts programming and family friendly educational programs that serve a diverse population of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, income levels and interests. We use the arts as a tool for community development, encouraging perpetuation and sharing of distinct art forms as a means to build community cohesiveness.
ARTrageous
Serving more than 4,000 annually, ARTrageous is a year-round series of free educational and participatory arts and cultural experiences. Each event offers educational activities like artist demonstrations, gallery tours, performances, and hands-on workshops. Primarily serving underserved school populations, this program is offered both on-site and off-site.
Gallery Exhibits
The Celebration Gallery, the Westside’s only destination gallery, makes arts and culture experiences accessible to everyone. Our 10 exhibits annually reach more than 120,000 people and include community, regional, national, and international artists and cultural groups.
WorldStage! Concert Series
The WorldStage! Concert Series brings more than 5,000 patrons out through the exciting musical lineup. These summer and winter concerts have local and international groups performing in a variety of genres. The shows draw together people of all ages and backgrounds, building community and cultural understanding.
Partners Program
More than 420 group members of 13 cultural performing groups come together weekly to rehearse in exchange for free public performances, about 60 each year. Reaching 42,300 last year, the public is enriched by culture and heritage, and the artists are supported as valuable community treasures, most of whom wouldn’t have a steady place to practice their traditions.
Cultural Festivals
Cultural and educational festivals are a large piece of the summer programming and reach over 4,500 patrons annually. These include the Day of the Dead Celebration, now in its 12th year, that brings communities together to celebrate distinctive cultural traditions, and the Uni-Versity Di-Versity Mash Up where students explore career choices and educational opportunities at Utah’s colleges and universities. In 2016 the UCCCF will host the first ever Wasatch International Food Festival where attendees will experience the rich tapestry that the Wasatch Front has to offer through various artists, musical groups, foods, partnerships and businesses fostering pride in community and cultural diversity.
You Can Help
Over and over, we hear praise from our patrons, community members, artists, businesses, and nonprofit partners of the community benefits of the Utah Cultural Celebration Center programs and facility. Last year we reached more than 125,000 people. With your help we will provide art exhibits, music, theater, dance, and cultural festivals, educate others & build community.
Testimonials
The Utah Cultural Celebration Center is a true treasure in the Salt Lake Valley. It is a welcoming place where people of all backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities gather in celebration. The staff is extremely professional and caring. Congratulations West Valley City for creating such a fabulous venue for the community!
-Community Partner
I feel like my girlfriend has really been blessed by the Cultural Celebration Center. First, she participated in a photography contest and was recognized for her work, and second, we enjoyed Samba Fogo so much at the free concert that she started taking the drumming workshops that they offer. I feel that this has helped get her more involved and feeling like she is a member of a community, and I know that both of these experiences have gone a long way towards building her confidence. I'm so proud of her, and so grateful for the UCCC for giving us these experiences.
-Arts Patron
My students love coming to the WVCC to experience this authentic holiday. (Day of the Dead) The ladies who put this together are such a wonderful group and my students truly benefit from their expertise and love of their culture. We travel from Evanston Wyoming each year to attend!
