Utah Housing Coalition Inc

Utah Housing Coalition is the leading housing advocacy organization  in Utah. We provide a network of support for professionals in the housing industry by working with influencers and decision makers in the nonprofit, for profit, and public sectors. Our goal is to achieve a vision of Utah in which every citizen has a decent, affordable place to live.

Our presence on the Hill this year allowed us to stay in constant communication with our members and the legislators. We were able to send up to the minute action alerts and talk with stakeholders when key bills were being negotiated. With the end of the 2014 Legislative Session, we are proud to announce several successes for housing in Utah.

• Protecting Tenants at Foreclosure Act is now a permanent law in Utah. HB 279
• Return for Rental Deposits passed creating a process by which a tenant can receive a return of rental deposits within a reasonable timeframe. SB 147
• Though we did not get the Mobile Home Taskforece bill passed, we feel that progress was made in opening the conversation and bringing stakeholders to the table. HB 108
• Most importantly, if money is allocated from the National Housing Trust Fund, those funds will be directed to the Utah Department of Housing and will be available for immediate use to provide low-income housing in Utah. HB 2
