Many people in our community have the talent, passion and drive to start or grow their own small business if they ONLY had access to a little bit of money.

Self-employment and microenterprise development offers a significant opportunity to generate household income, build assets, wealth and a sense of hopefulness. 

For the owner, it can mean more security, self-confidence and pride which contributes to healthier families and stronger communities.

Our clients don't have access to traditional sources of capital that can finance a small business venture.  As such, we help people who 1) are just starting and don't have an operating history, 2) don't have enough collateral for a loan and/or 3) have had life circumstances that have negatively impacted their credit score.

UMLF loans are made based on the individual's business plan and his or her's demonstrated talent, ability and initiative to make the business succeed.

The UMLF provides on-going individualized management support for clients to help them become active participants in the business community.

The UMLF was designed to provide modest loans for business proposals that demonstrate a sound strategy and project an analysis that the debt can be repaid from business operations.
