HELPING UTAH KIDS “GET” ART
When you visit the Museum with your family, you can check out a Family Backpack to help you through your visit. These packs include activities, games, and puzzles that explore the collection of the UMFA. In addition to the Family Backpack program, the UMFA's Education and Engagement department recruits audiences diverse in age, demographics, and geography to engage meaningfully in myriad free and community programming. The UMFA’s Art in a Box program provides art supplies, art instruction, experiences with real art objects, and teacher resources to Utah grade schools, statewide.
The UMFA needs your support to ensure world-class art will be in our community for the next 100 years. Any gift amount, from $10 to $100, will make a big difference. With your generous donations, you help to ensure that art has a place in Utah, and in the lives of future generations.
ART IS 100: Celebrating 100 years of collecting art on the University of Utah Campus
In 1914 the University of Utah opened its first art gallery in the Park Building. This galleries collection set the foundation for the Utah Museum of Fine Arts comprehensive collection. This year the UMFA celebrates Art is 100, a tribute to a century of collecting great art on the University of Utah campus. The Museum is also honoring the generous donors whose support has made these last one hundred years possible.
Over the years people like you have made it possible for the Museum to collect, exhibit, interpret, and preserve its collection. The UMFA is the only visual arts institution in the state with an encyclopedic collection, containing over 19,000 objects from around the world. These artworks date from antiquity to the present. In addition to presenting world-class art, the Museum has a multitude of engaging educational programs, designed to spark dialogue and discovery.
