Utah Avalanche Center

Utah Avalanche Center provides free avalanche forecasts across the state, including the Wasatch and Uinta mountain ranges so you can stay safe in your backyard. Don't forget to check out our free avalanche awareness and affordable education classes being offered in-person and virtually for the 2024-2025 winter season.

Along with The Greatest Snow on Earth®, Utah has some of the greatest avalanche danger in the U.S. Last year, Summit County had over 100 reported avalanches. 

We live, work, and play within sight of avalanche terrain.  The Utah Avalanche Center helps make backcountry and sidecountry fun and safe by providing up-to-date avalanche forecasts, education, and awareness. About 80% of our funding comes from donations, grants, and benefit events.  Please - if you or your family appreciate our services, help us out with $5 (or more)!
