UTAHNS AGAINST HUNGER works to increase access to food through ADVOCACY, OUTREACH, and EDUCATION.

Over the past 2 years, your support has helped us

Advocacy:

• Successfully increased free school meal eligibility from 130% to 185% of the poverty line, increasing access for more students
• Advocated for the implementation of the Elderly Simplified Application Project, allowing seniors and people with disabilities to maintain three years of continuous eligibility
• Simplified state rules giving access to child support for families receiving cash assistance 
• Secured additional funding for food pantries

Outreach:

• Update and distribute NEED FOOD HELP? fliers, with county-specific resources
• Provide information and referral services for the Double-Up Food Bucks program, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, and assist people in finding food resources in their community.
• Provide SNAP training to organizations that are interested in SNAP outreach activities
• Work with community partners to expand the reach of federal nutrition assistance programs

Education:

• Research, write, and publish County Food Access Profiles
• Create fact sheets, white papers, and other educational materials
• Educate policy makers, elected officials, and the public about the impact of food security and how federal nutrition programs need to be accessible and well-funded.
