HOW DOES YOUR DONATION MAKE A DIFFERENCE? 

Community Engagement has never been more powerful or accessible. This past year, in response to the growing concerns about the future of safety net programs and how to reach legislators, we began hosting advocacy events. Your donation will help us regularly host these events that educate community members on anti-hunger issues and train them to effectively advocate with their elected officials and representatives. 

The Summer Food Service Program works to fill the nutrition gap between school years for low-income students who rely on free and reduced price breakfast and lunch programs. Preventing hunger is not the only goal of the summer food program. Many sites have activities that encourage kids to be active and to engage in learning. Last summer we collected over 10,000 children's books that we then gave to kids at 3 different summer food sites. Research shows that low-income kids experience summer learning loss and start the new school year behind their peers. Your donation helps us to increase access to summer food sites and improve our summer literacy program.

Double Up Food Bucks builds on the work we have done to expand the use of food stamp at farmers markets. Last year, with community partners, we applied for and received a grant to implement the Double Up Food Bucks program. Your donations will help us to promote and expand the Double Up Food Bucks program, which allows food stamp recipients to buy extra produce at farmer’s markets by matching EBT dollars spent up to $10 each market day. 

The Food Stamp Outreach Program helps eligible Utahns access the food stamp program through community partners. This is an offical state program managed by Utahns Against Hunger for the Department of Workforce Services. Your donation will help us train and supporter community partners, such as food pantries and organizations that work with vulnerable populations, so that they can assist those most in need gain access to food.
