What We Do

For more than 40 years, we have offered mindfulness and awareness meditation practice as a path to greater self-awareness for people in the Atlanta area and beyond. Anyone can receive meditation instruction and enjoy practicing with our community multiple times a week. In addition to free meditation training, we offer classes and programs on Buddhism and compassion, both online and at our beautiful campus in Decatur. 

In her book When Things Fall Apart, Pema Chodron says, “The most fundamental aggression to ourselves, the most fundamental harm we can do to ourselves, is to remain ignorant by not having the courage and the respect to look at ourselves honestly and gently.”

Meditation is the continual act of making friends with yourself. It takes courage and it’s not easy. The more we come to know ourselves the more we understand that we are all in this together. 

How You Can Help

Your generosity will enable us to: 

Remove a dead pine tree before it falls on one of our beautiful structures  

Replace a furnace 

Upgrade our HVAC systems with UV lights to purify the air

Replace the front door of our administrative building 

Upgrade our technology to create a good hybrid experience as we return to in-person programming.

Add new outdoor chairs and tables

These repairs and improvements will help us continue to provide the joy and power of self-awareness, making the world a little sweeter every day!

Working Together

One of the main tenets of Buddhism is interdependence. Thich Nhat Hanh calls it Interbeing. How many people will it take to bring down that pine tree in our backyard? How many hands does it take to get the food onto our tables every day? People we will never know are responsible for so much of our well-being. Recognizing our interdependence is a potent way to remind us of another important aspect of our life. Gratitude.
