Valley Chemical Fire Co-Station 270

The Valley Chemical Fire Company is an all volunteer fire department in Columbia County that was founded in 1924. We are proud to serve all our residents and visitors to "The Valley". We serve the townships of Locust, Roaring Creek, and Cleveland. We also provide mutual aid to many of our neighboring departments. We have approximately 50 active men, women, and juniors members, along with approximately 150 support members. Our department currently operates with the following apparatus:

Our Department is currently in the final steps of specifications and approvals to purchase a new Tanker to replace our current tanker which is currently 24 years old. Our tanker is our most utilized unit and responds to emergencies not only in our coverage area, but is frequently called to fires in our surrounding communities. The tanker is also used for many nonemergent activities including pool fillings and assisting the local race track with supplying water. These activities are also one of the ways that assist with our funding through donations.

Our department relays on 3 main types of funding. We receive money from the townships that we serve and through grants that we apply for each year, but our main funding comes from donations and fundraising. Our department hosts several fundraising events throughout the year including our Chicken and Waffle diner in April (April 25, 2026), our 3 night Carnival in August (August 13-15, 2026), and a 5K run/walk in the fall (October 31, 2026), along with several other events throughout the year.

As a volunteer company we are always looking for new members. We have several types of membership that can fit anyone abilities and comfort level. We have our active, fire police, and junior membership. These men, women, and junior members are the ones who train and respond to all types of emergencies. If this is not for you, we have several other ways to help out. We have a membership category that does not respond to emergencies but helps out at fundraisers and other events, as well as getting to hang out at our station. We also have a group of First Responders, EMT's, and Paramedics that volunteer to provide immediate medical care to our residents while awaiting an ambulance. We also have our Auxiliary group which is made up of men and women who support the fire company monetarily and by providing food and drinks at emergencies events. This group hosts the annual Easter egg hunt as well as an Ice Cream Social and several stands at our carnival.
