VSU is a non-profit 501(c)(3).  We teach the benefits of eating plant based food in its original, unrefined, and unprocessed state.  Obesity, type II diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer are the current leading causes of death in the U.S.  Based on data from The Center for Disease Control  these conditions are mainly lifestyle and diet related.

"Our primary purpose is to educate interested individuals, organizations, and the general public as to the value and benefits of the whole food plant based lifestyle.  We also provide support and social activities for vegetarian/vegan-oriented persons."

VSU addresses the misinformation and confusion about diets by educating the community about plant based nutrition and the science that supports it.  This diet is palatable, easy to prepare, inexpensive and appealing to everyone especially children.

We have free potlucks the 2nd Saturday and free educational programs the 4th Tuesday of every month with special programs held throughout the year!

Frequent emails are sent to keep all our members and guests informed of forthcoming events, vegetarian recipes and noteworthy happenings relating to our purpose.

Since VSU was established in 2005 hundreds have had and continue to gain health, reversed and/or eliminated heart disease, diabetes, obesity, autoimmune diseases, IBS, constipation and many other degenerative diseases.  It is so exciting to hear their stories at each event we hold.

Speakers who are experts in Nutrition Fundamentals are invited as often as our budget allows (which isn't anywhere near enough).  We also show their DVD's at our programs which is much more affordable at this time.

VSU holds several free food demonstrations throughout the year.  A panel of vegan chefs demonstrates how quick and easy it is to make delicious healthy food.  Samples are available for all present.

We do Tabling throughout the year at Health Fairs, the Farmer's Market, Ironman and at programs whenever and where ever we are asked.  This is one of the best ways we have for getting the word out and to let everyone know that we are available and are backed by science and proven medical advice.

Curiosity brings many who are sick and are tired of not feeling better with all the "pills" and medical attention they are getting, not to mention the heavy burden of financial stress.  VSU offers hope, help, training, support and is a center of incredible resourses.

VSU publishes a quarterly newsletter which highlights upcoming programs, member spotlights, information that is relavent to health from experts, news from the International Vegetarian Union (IVU) to keep us informed about what other countries are doing to promote and support our goals.  This newsletter also has pictures of our events and attendees.  This is emailed to each member and "snail mailed" to members who do not have access to the internet.  It is also available at our website:  www.vsutah.org.

Several of our members and board members are presenting food demonstrations weekly, monthly and more - showing how to make delicious and healthy meals and sharing nutrition information.

A couple of our members have started another group of vegans and wanna-be-vegans in Mesquite NV, 42 miles southwest of St George.  We share meetings, potluck and information.

There's nothing as gratifying as seeing the smiles, excitement and a lot more spring in the steps of those who have adopted this wonderful way of eating. And the "wows" or "I never thought I could feel this great!!!"

Like myself, many have tried all the diets and programs that are available to be healthier - but find that nothing works in the short term and the long term like THE WHOLE FOOD PLANT BASED LIFESTYLE.

The preponderance of science and medical proof is slowly being released to the general population that a vegetarian/vegan diet is the best one for our health, the health of the animals and our planet!!

We invite anyone interested in our programs/activities to participate in any/all of these activities and especially invite you to become an active, supportive member of our organization.  Most of our programs are FREE; donations are appreciated.

It's time to take control of our health!  VSU is here to assist and support... we appreciate your donations.

We are what we eat and what we digest -- as well, as what we eliminate!!

Thank you!
