Meals on Wheels of Vernon serves an average of 2,000 meals a month to people that might go hungry without our help.  Our clients's must meet eligibility guidelines for our services based on income, resources and need.  The Texas Department of Human Services establishes these guidelines.  Hunger is an increasing problem for a large number of people in this area.  Our program has had problems in the last two years, as our state funds have grown smaller and the need for meals in our community has grown larger.

Who We Are

Meals on Wheels of Vernon serves an average of 2,200 meals a month to the aged and disabled of our community. All meals are delivered by volunteers. People who receive Meals on Wheels must meet strict income requirements and resource guidelines based on the Texas Dept. of Aging & Disability Services. Hunger is an increasing problem for a large part of the people in our area. The State reimbursement for the meals no longer covers the cost of the meal which keeps increasing. There is a shortfall of apx. $293.88 annually per client that we serve. On an average, we serve 100 people per day.We are reaching out to you today to ask for your financial help to keep our program viable in serving our community.
