Veteran Empowerment Through Motorsports

 

Sometime in the next 60 minutes, a post 9/11 combat veteran will take their own life.  

All told, that's nearly 22 veterans a day.  

Twenty two mothers and fathers; sons and daughters

Twenty two of our friends and neighbors

Twenty two American warriors a day who sacrificed their bodies and spirits in answering our nation’s call to serve; and who bear painful scars left by that service which are sometimes difficult to see and, for too many, even more difficult to understand.

Every day twenty two lives are lost; lives  we might have saved.

At VETMotorsports, our mission is to make a difference…

Our mission is to attack the enemy of veteran suicide by focusing, not on simple charity, but on meaningful empowerment by providing all our wounded warriors with a renewed sense of purpose.

VETMotorsports is an award winning non-profit veteran support organization that uses active participation in and around organized motorsports as an innovative and highly effective form of non-clinical outreach.  

This is not about parades or honorifics; it’s about giving these men and women the chance to be a real and contributing member of competitive race teams.  There is no analog for combat but team oriented competitive motorsports is a great way to reclaim many of the most rewarding aspects of military service; the camaraderie, a sense of shared goals, teamwork, and even family.

Since 2013, we have successfully placed more than 124 injured warfighters and their caregivers into over 49 unique motorsports events; from vintage NASCAR to IMSA to SCCA to MotoAmerica and AMA Pro Racing—All with unbelievable results.

Many great charities are focused on raising money. Ours is focused on creating opportunities.  VETMotorsports offers our wounded veterans a new sense of meaning and purpose by embedding them into team-oriented, high energy, and rewarding environments that challenge, motivate, and inspire them.
