Veterans Alternative

The mission of the Veterans Alternative is improve the quality of life for our Nations Warriors by offering them effective and alternative therapies.

Veterans Alternative currently conducts an average of three highly effective week long Accelerated Wellness Programs (AWP's) per month for Combat Veterans. Each AWP serves up to six participants. Using positive psychology and a strength-based perspective, we meet participants where they are and enable them to experience personal growth. During the AWP, Combat Veterans receive daily sessions of Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.), Integrative Restoration (iRest), and gentle yoga. Veteran participants are also exposed to other alternative approaches throughout the week, such as equine therapy, hydro-massage therapy, TRX conditioning and training, and music and art therapy. Additionally, our program places an emphasis on camaraderie building and post-traumatic growth, which is achieved through interactions with other retreat participants, social outings, and volunteer interactions. To ensure that all participants are able to focus on their post traumatic-growth, Veterans are housed in a local hotel and all travel accommodations all are included at no cost to the participants. 

Our Accelerated Wellness Program is externally evaluated through a pre- and post-assessment survey, and our yielded the following outcomes for 2017: a 46% reduction in PTSD, 61% reduction in Depression, 56% reduction in Anxiety and 44% reduction in Perceived Stress.
