Veterans Healing Farm

Our Veterans Programs:

• VA Hospital Produce Donations: We have a 1-acre American flag donation garden that is used to grow food for donation directly to veterans (free of charge) at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC as well as area food banks. The donation garden is designed with agricultural plastic as a giant American flag and provides a space for veterans to participate in service work to give back to their communities. In 2017 we donated over 8,000 lbs of produce freely to veterans.
  
  
• Veteran Farm Training: We are currently in the process of building a state-of-the-art community center in Hendersonville, NC. Named in honor of US Marine Corporal Joshua A McArdle (a local veteran who took his life), this facility will allow us to host our "Farmer Veteran Boot Camp", open to all post-9/11 veterans. The goal is to provide this five day crash-course completely free of charge for all veterans accepted into the program.
  
  
• Veterans Equine Therapy: partnering with Heart of Horse Sense to offer Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. This holistic approach provides veterans an opportunity to rebuild their ability to connect with themselves and others, learn self-acceptance and exhibit more empathy with family and friends.
  
  
• Community Farm Membership: We host 40 families (over 150 individuals) in our “farm membership” program, cultivating a close-knit community of veteran families and offers peer support and the therapeutic activity of gardening. In 2017 we grew over 6,000 lbs of produce which was consumed by our Community Farm families.
