Victims Resource Center

The Victims Resource Center has been standing with victims since 1974. We began as a grassroots response to the nationwide rape crisis movement to serve as a support and resource to women who were victims of sexual assault. By 1982 the agency had developed services and educational programs to meet the needs of victims of all crime, their families, friends and the community. Today, the organization remains constant in its goal to help victims through the transition from victim to survivor.

With Offices in Luzerne, Carbon and Wyoming Counties, services include: 24/7 crisis hotline, crisis counseling, therapy, support groups, accompaniment to the hospital/police/court, safety planning, advocacy, victims' compensation assistance, information & referral, prevention and education programs, and community outreach. All the services are confidential and are provided at no cost.

Who We Are

To address the issue of violence against victims in whatever form it takes.

To support the principles of nonviolence as they address victims’ issues and the greater issue of violence in society.

To act as the coordinating link among these systems that impact upon victimization.

To enhance the quality of care to victims through contact with law enforcement, court systems, social services, medical services, the legislature and the community at large.
