The Victory Home Restoration Home is unique in that we provide 24 Hour emergency housing for men and women, married or single. We have limited capacity to handle men or women on a long term basis. We are the only shelter that functions this way. This is critical in the times we are living in. We frequently get calls from Sherriff’s Department, Health and Welfare and others with requests for assistance for individuals and families’ immediate crisis and they need help immediately. We partner with the Mustard Seed, Valley House, La Posada, Deseret Industries, Salvation Army, and South Central Community Action Partnership to meet a critical unmet need in our community. Once again, all of this is offered 24 hours, 7 days a week.
New to the Victory Home is the Shelter/ Mission. The Magic Valley has had a need for this for a long time and we are very excited to be able to provide a service like this.
The shelter consists currently consists of 12 cots, with a capability of 24, for overnight homeless stays and the mission has 8 beds for transitional, temporary lodging for men.
They can check in at 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm and the beds are on a first come first serve basis. If a person leaves the premise after checking in their bed can and will be given to someone else in need. In the morning they must leave the property by 8:00 am depending on the weather. If the weather at 8 am is still at 32 degree’s the men stay until the temp reaches 32 degrees or higher. This is offered at no charge to the person or the community. This person can only stay for a max of 7 days then they can move over to the mission part of the program if space is available. If they can’t move over to the mission they can no longer use the shelter for a total of 90 days from the last stay.
The mission program has beds for men that are transitioning from being homeless to gainful employment. They can stay for a maximum of 30 days in this program. These men have situations that keep them from entering into the Victory Home Restoration Program. The men can check in to the mission at 6:30 to 9:00pm and must check out by 8:00 am. At which time they either go to work or continue looking for employment. All men, shelter and mission, are encouraged to utilize the temporary employment agency’s in the area. The mission program does cost $10.00 per night, paid up front (no credit) and includes a shower, breakfast, a dinner at check-in and lunch for the next day, Monday thru Friday. On Sunday afternoon they have laundry privileges. At the end of 30 days the client needs to find other living arrangements. If not, the Victory Home provides the option of either going into the Restoration Programs transitional housing and paying a program fee or entering into the Restoration Program at no charge.
