We are committed to helping challenged individuals and communities overcome barriers to self sufficiency.  Our Vision is:  Sustainable communities where there is vitality, resources, services, and opportunities available for all to have a better life.

Through partnership with community and religious leaders, the Village engages in numerous capacity building programs to grow, expand, and increase the capacity of communities and individuals to sustain themselves.  Projects include: 1) Educational and training programs to promote life-long learning and increase skills; 2) Various community improvement projects which encourage community pride and revitalization, and; 3) Ongoing leadership seminars which encourage youth involvement and respect for all cultures.

Numerous scholarships are provided to undergraduate, graduate, and seminary students and adults residing in Northern Virginia including:  Alexandria, Prince William County, Dumfries, and Manassas.  Hands on assistance is provided to students desiring to complete student financial aid forms as well as to explore various options for on-line training.  Scholarship amounts range from $250 to $1,500 per student, per year.

The Village provides coats for Alexandria Foster Care Youth from grades k-12.  All youth are encouraged to volunteer their time to shop for coats and other items for foster and homeless students.  Student Volunteers have expressed great pride in sharing and caring for others.  Student recipients have expressed much gratitude and are happy that we care for others in whatever situation they find themselves.  Students realize that there is no division; we are all one in pursuit of working to help those in need.  All have the the opportunity to share in and experience the joy of giving and working to help others.

The "Small Groups Seminars" engage students and parents in comprehensive writing instruction.  Our goal is to guide trainees in writing reports, research papers, and letters-including resume' writing.  Proper attire, and behavior during the interview process are included as part of the resume' writing course.

More than  100 participants have received financial literacy training.  This training has helped participants see the big picture.  The course offers strategies for wealth creation, and financial security, while encouraging community giving and investment.

During the past two year's our most utilized program has been the Village College Scholarship.  This is due to the ever increasing cost of college tuition, and instability in the job market.

For those who have helped us to help so many WE THANK YOU!  For more information please visit our website at: http://www.villagecorp.org
