Vincentian de Marillac

Compelled by the love of Christ, Vincentian Collaborative System nurtures and sustains a ministry of compassionate care that preserves the human dignity of persons within a diverse and changing society.

Junior and Senior students from the City Charter High School are matched with Vincentian de Marillac in an intern program 5 days per week for the second semester of the school year. The students are planning to go into a related healthcare field after graduation and de Marillac gives them hands-on experiences in the field with one-on-one relationships with the residents. Students assist with programming, visit residents in their rooms, act as escorts, and learn about elder and dementia care. Many times, the students are hired for part-time and weekend positions after they complete the program. Students learn life lessons from the residents - many virtual grandparent relationships are created and residents stay connected with young people from their same community.
