CELEBRATING OUR 10TH ANNIVERSARY YEAR AS WE SHARE THE JOY OF MUSIC AND HANDBELLS WITH OUR AUDIENCES!
“It was a wonderful evening of music.” ~ Joy S.
“Thanks for sharing the stage with us. You really added a fantastic element to the show.” ~ John-Paul H.
“Many of you came today because you're followers of Virginia Bronze and you may have been as intrigued as I was by the prospect of hearing jazz repertoire played by an ensemble of bell ringers, and what an ambitious idea; what chutzpah; what unmitigated gall. But…my head is still spinning…you have introduced us to so many possibilities and it’s been, it’s really been phenomenal. I think Virginia Bronze has done a great honor to jazz this afternoon and so have you by joining us.” ~Rob Bamberger, WAMU Hot Jazz Saturday Night
OUR CONCERTS ARE UNIQUE
Under the baton of Carol Feather Martin, Virginia Bronze (VAB) has become an active and visible group in the Metro area with a growing regional and national reputation as a performance ensemble. VAB performs an annual season program as Artists in Residence at the George Washington Masonic Memorial Theater, giving four themed performances each year in October, December, March and late May/early June.
One of the marks of VAB is our themed performances. All of the music for a performance is selected around a particular theme. No two concerts are exactly the same. Past themes include: Top Billboard Hits, Space, Opera, Jazz, Holiday, Celtic, At the Ballet, South of the Border, and American Composers. Our October 2016 concert debuted the first of our two commissioned works for our 10th anniversary year.
WE FOCUS ON EDUCATION, TOO
Education, as well as our concerts, is the focus of VAB for 2017 and 2018. A ringer/director workshop will be held May 6, 2017 to meet the needs of Alexandria City and local county ringers. We excited to be launching a self-contained lesson on the physics of sound for Alexandria City schools in May this year.
WE COUNT ON YOU TO HELP SUPPORT OUR CONCERTS AND EDUCATION EVENTS
