Visions Global Empowerment

What is Visions?

Visions Global Empowerment (“Visions”) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, CA that aims to change patterns of inequality by supporting educational initiatives for youth affected by conflict, poverty, and disability. We envision a world where all people have access to quality education, feel empowered, and are capable of participating as leaders in today’s society.

Where does Visions Work?

Visions currently serves communities in Sri Lanka (Northern & Eastern Provinces), India (states of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, & Uttarakhand), and Ethiopia (Amhara Region & Addis Ababa).

What does Visions Do?

Worldwide, millions of children face immense daily hardships that prevent them from accessing a quality education or preparing themselves for a meaningful, educated, and independent life. Since 2003, we have labored tirelessly in creating educational and personal development opportunities that serve community needs and enable youth to improve their own lives and overall wellbeing. Our main efforts include:

1.   Leadership Program – utilizing our own unique curriculum, we offer training for youth & adults in leadership & life skills, community service, and personal/professional development

2.   Capacity Building Program – we have nurtured partnerships with more than 3 dozen local civil society organizations and exemplary schools & academic institutions in supporting a wide range of activities, including:

• After-School Programs
• Teacher Trainings
• Scholarships
• Livelihoods Development
• Computer & Multimedia Labs
• Libraries
• Music & Dance Programs
• Support for at-risk & IDP youth
• Provision of supplies & equipment, trainings, etc.
• Guidance and support in all areas of nonprofit management, growth, impact assessment, project design & implementation, etc.

 3.   Deaf Education & Empowerment – our work aims to increase the accessibility and quality of education, formal sign language instruction, interpretation services, livelihoods development, leadership & life skills, audiology services, public acceptance & understanding, and other vital support for the Deaf community.

 4.   e-Learning Program – we strive to create innovative tech-based solutions for traditionally marginalized youth and communities that help to improve academic achievement in core subjects such as English and Mathematics, tech literacy, and connection to a vast reserve of digital & internet-based knowledge and learning programs.

 5.   Youth Guidance & Support – helping to bridge the gap between school and higher education or the working world, Visions provides counseling, mentorship, preparatory support, and scholarships for high-achieving, motivated youth.

 6.   Volunteer Programs – since 2003, Visions has run annual service-learning trips abroad (including trips organized in partnership with 4 U.S. universities), in which 177 international volunteers & 200+ local volunteers have participated.
