ONE organization...

For the last 35+ years, VINS has been enriching Northampton public school classrooms with talented, tireless, selfless, indispensable community volunteers.

ONE volunteer at a time...

Last school year, VINS recruited volunteers, coordinated placements, and provided ongoing support to volunteers. VINS supported K-12 classrooms in the following areas: literacy; math; science/engineering; art; physical education; theatre, and health and wellness activities. Additionally, volunteers assisted with administrative tasks, guided individual students with art-based projects, assisted in libraries, and chaperoned educational field trips.

ONE day at a time...

• Coordinated volunteer roles for 73+ unique placements (specifically requested by teachers)
• Tracked more than 125 school/resource volunteers
• Tracked at least 2500 hours of time contributed by volunteers
• Completed 550+ CORI checks
• Fostered community partnerships with RSVP; Smith College; Center for New Americans; Foster Grandparents; America Reads/Counts Tutors; NEF; PTOs, local businesses, community members, and parents/guardians

ONE teacher at a time...

This school year, with increased emphasis and importance on the Common Core Curriculum and Differentiated Instruction, VINS will need to respond to increased demands for qualified, trained volunteers in the public classrooms to support our teachers' growing needs.

VINS needs your help to maintain its ongoing efforts to recruit, train, coordinate, and track volunteers in Northampton Public Schools to provide our students with engaging activities, curriculum enrichment, and meaningful relationships.
