The Virginia Tech shooter had been legally found to be a danger to himself and his name should have been entered into the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) to prevent him from legally buying a gun.  It wasn’t.  He killed 32 people, injured 24 and many more were traumatized.

As a result, VTV is dedicated to ensuring, through Campaign 32 - www.campaign32.org, that every state follow Virginia’s example and submit the names of people who have been legally found to be a danger to themselves or others and were committed for treatment to NICS.

Notably, VTV’s mission is supported by such groups as the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Everytown for Gun Safety, the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the National Rifle Association and the National Shooting Sports Foundation.  This broad political support will enable VTV to make real, meaningful and measureable change for the better.

VTV is a 501(c)(3) and donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.  Please show you care about preventing Virginia Tech-type tragedies, and other acts of gun violence, by donating $32 or more today at www.vtvfamilyfoundation.org/donate
