Sex trafficking is devastating lives and our kids are on the front lines of this human rights abuse! They're recruited at schools, parties, malls and on social networks by people they know and predators who "befriend" them.  Recruitment by classmates can even be inadvertent, like a trafficker asking a kid to invite friends to a party.  Peer pressure can make youth vulnerable to being trafficked or becoming recruiters.  According to American Psychological Association, the impact of human trafficking is serious, and can cause a loss of basic human rights and loss of one's childhood.  Countless children are sold for sex in the U.S.

According to the San Diego County District Attorney's Office, San Diego is one of the country's hotspots for trafficking - the FBI has ranked San Diego as one of the 13 worst regions in the United States with up to 8,000 victims per year and is a growing problem in the U.S.

WHAT WE DO

W2OMG_BLOOM Partners will Teen Sex Traffic victim and Abuse Survivors Safe Houses to:

Reach:  Local churches, state and federal agencies to help identify victims of human trafficking.  Work actively to change laws to make it harder for the trafficker to sell another human being in the commercial sex industry, and support changes in laws to make it a felony for any person who purchases another human being.

Support Rescue Efforts:    Once a teen is rescued our partner Safe Houses provide an immediate home in a secure, safe and comfortable triage shelter to help girls harmed from trafficking immediately after a rescue or sting with law enforcement.  When a new girl comes into the Safe House she is given a tour of her room.  Then along with her bed and comforter, they are given a backpack of goodies and toiletries, including a stuffed animal.  According to Run 2 Rescue, the first thing the girls love to do is SLEEP!  "So many come to the Safe Homes sleep deprived, and after some good healthy rest, meal prep and eating together is a good time to to learn more about her".

Restoring:   Our Safe House partners programs vary, but all have highly trained teams that work with the girls and provide programs and curriculum to help them work toward their long term restoration in a way that recognizes their current condition with an eye on their future.
