Winnsboro Center for the Arts

A nonprofit organization

Winnsboro Center for the Arts engages people in the arts through educational programming, cultural experiences, and entertainment. Our vision is to integrate the arts into community life. We continue to expand our educational and outreach programs to serve the needs and provide more opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds in Northeast Texas.

Many area schools are Title I school districts with more than 50% of students underserved. Providing cultural experiences and educational opportunities for local youth is a high priority, and this year we are expanding our programming to reach more of those children. We want to bring affordable cultural opportunities to our community and offer financial assistance if necessary.

Youth programs include:
* Accessible Art classes for Elementary-aged students - This is a new program where individuals sponsor an underserved child for art classes at the Center.
* Many, many lessons and classes in music and art are held throughout the year.
* 8 summer camps throughout June and July for ages 6-18 in art, music, and theater.
* Annual regional High School Art Competition and Exhibition in which students from seventeen school districts are invited to participate. They are instructed in all aspects of exhibiting their work. A scholarship and prizes are awarded.
* Heritage projects - In addition to our Dia De Los Muertos project celebrating the Hispanic tradition, we are adding a Native American Cultural Exhibit celebrating Native American Month. Most art is made by children.
